We are proud to announce that our St. Gianna organist, Ann Therese Mettner, has composed a Mass in Honor of St. Gianna, for the sung parts of the Mass. The music will be introduced at the 5pm and 11 am Masses the weekend of February 18-19, and continue throughout Lent and the Easter season. We are excited to be able to incorporate this musical setting of the Mass at our Mass of dedication with Archbishop Carlson, April 29. Our hope is that by beginning to learn the music early, we will be familiar enough with it by Holy Week and throughout the Easter season. Copies of this original work will be provided in the pews for your convenience.

We were suddenly informed with the sad news of the death of an extended family member in Tulsa. The funeral is scheduled for early Wednesday morning (February 15th) in Tulsa. At first, we thought we could still be at Devout Heart on the 14th and drive through the night but we remembered the next virtue after Love was Prudence (Planning ahead, getting enough sleep, etc.) and we feel it is best for our safety on the road to delay Devout Heart until Tuesday, the 28th (Revised schedule is at the end of this email). Thank you so much for your understanding during this difficult time for us and Kendel's side of the family.
In preparation for the next talk on Love, we recommend revisiting the study on the vice of Envy. (Love opposes Envy) Many of you expressed having difficulty in accessing the new Devout Heart website. These issues seem to have been fixed and you can click on the button at the bottom of this email to access the site, or simply go to devoutheart.com (Note that you can listen to the talks and view the material online if you weren't able to attend last semester).
Additionally, keep your eyes open for information regarding a Summer Youth Conference at St. Gianna Parish. We have been working along with Fr. Elliott on a two-day retreat that will take place on the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart and will continue through to the next day for the Immaculate Heart of Mary (June 15th & 16th). More information will be available soon but please mark your calendars for now if you would like to attend.
Below is the revised schedule (weather permitting) for these next five sessions on the virtues:
Love/Charity on February 28th
Prudence on March 6th
Justice on March 14th or 20th (This is tenative until confirmed by Fr. Elliott)
Fortitude on April 10th (In our New Parish Building)
Hope on April 24th (In our New Parish Building)
May God bless you all richly and we hope to see you all on the 28th!
-David & Kendel
