Today in the Liturgical Year
                             Capital Campaign News Corner

St. Gianna Catholic Church welcomes you to our parish and website.

As Catholics of St. Gianna Parish, in communion with our Archbishop, and our Holy Father, the Bishop of Rome, we are called by Jesus Christ to be His body, the Church, in our local community and to fully live the Gospel.

With faith, hope and charity, we strive to live our discipleship by fervent prayer, inspired worship, sound teaching, and sharing our faith with those in physical and spiritual need.

YEAR FOR PRIESTS
Work of Mercy for the month of JUNE:

Inserted in the bulletin is a card for Archbishop Carlson's Birthday. A gift of praying the Rosary for his intentions. Please fill out the card and place it in the collection basket or put it in the basket on the table in the vestibule. Please return them by June 27. We need to let Archbishop Carlson know that St. Gianna Parish supports him with our prayers. Let's have a huge response!

I want to call your attention to the Manhattan Declaration that is sponsored by Orthodox, Catholic and evangelical Christians who have united to reaffirm fundamental truths about justice and the common good:

1. the sanctity of human life,

2. the dignity of marriage as the conjugal union of husband and wife,

3. the rights of conscience and religious liberty.

I encourage you to sign up on their website www.manhattandec1aration.org.
Our former archbishop, Justin Cardinal Rigali, is one of the principal supporters of this initiative.

Pope Benedict XVI declares a "Year for Priests," June 19, 2009-June 19, 2010.

A prayer for our priests:

Dear Lord, we pray that the Blessed Mother wrap her mantle around your priests and through her intercession strengthen them for their ministry. We pray that Mary will guide your priests to follow her own words, "Do whatever He tells you" (Jn 2:5).

May your priests have the heart of St. Joseph, Mary's most chaste spouse. May the Blessed Mother's own pierced heart inspire them to embrace all who suffer at the foot of the cross. May your priests be holy, filled with the fire of your love seeking nothing but your greater glory and the salvation of souls. Amen.

St. John Vianney, pray for us.
